In recent National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA) testing, the Pontiac Torrent received the highest rating possible in both front and side impact crash testing. The 2006 Pontiac Torrent received the highest government frontal crash safety ratingfor both driver and front passenger- five stars.

Crash Avoidance Features

The ultimate step toward all-weather performance is Torrent's innovative on-demand all-wheel-drive system standard with the Torrent AWD. It delivers power to the front wheels during normal driving on dry road surfaces, but if rain, snow, or mud cause front-wheel slippage, power is automatically delivered to the rear wheels as well. The system is automatic and works seamlessly with no action required by the driver to achieve excellent traction and mobility. The Torrent FWD models feature standard traction control.

Torrent comes standard with a theft-deterrent alarm system.

Occupant Protection

Among its many safety features, the Torrent provides driver and right front passenger air bags† and 3-point safety belts for all positions, plus pretensioners that cause the seatbelt to tighten if the vehicle senses an accident, or when the vehicle stops short. There are child-seat LATCH anchors at each of the three back-seating positions, with the rear outboard positions also having safety belt comfort guides.

If your air bags deploy, OnStar Advisors are automatically alerted and can send help to your vehicle's exact location even if you are unable to answer their call. If your vehicle is stolen, Advisors can assist police in attempting to locate your vehicle. In most cases, Advisors can also unlock your doors remotely if your keys are loc ked inside.

Covered for three years/36,000 miles, whichever comes first:

• The complete vehicle

• Tires

• Towing to your nearest Pontiac dealership

• Cosmetic corrosion resulting from defects

• Repairs made to correct any vehicle defect

• No charge for most warranty repairs

Covered for six years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first:

• Rust-through corrosion

Corrosion Protection

Pontiac vehicles are designed and built to resist corrosion. All body and sheet metal components are warranted against rust-through corrosion for six years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is not required under the corrosion coverage and none is recommended. Ask us for terms of this limited warranty.

An Important Note about Alterations and Warranties

Installations or alterations to the original equipment vehicle (or chassis) as distributed by General Motors are not covered by the General Motors New-Vehicle Limited Warranty.
The special body company, assembler, equipment installer, or upfitter is solely responsible for warranties on the body or equipment and any alterations (or any effect of the alterations) to any of the parts, components, systems, or assemblies installed by GM. General Motors is not responsible for the safety or quality of design features, materials, or workmanship of any alterations by such suppliers.

Roadside Assistance

24-hour Roadside Assistance during the New Vehicle limited warranty period provides in an emergency:

• Lockout assistance

• Dead-battery assistance

• Out-of-fuel assistance

• Flat-tire change

• Towing for warranty repairs

• Courtesy transportation
